Volunteers

This is a non-paid volunteer program designed to help the Reptile Zoo connect with its customers.

Your responsibilities can include:

- Customer contact

- Welcoming guests to the Reptile Zoo

- Education

- Facilitating animal interaction in the hands on section of the Reptile Zoo

- General maintenance and husbandry

- Take guest photos with Burmese Python


Required: Well Mannered and outgoing reptile enthusiast that is at least age 18, who is willing to donate time to the Reptile Zoo.

Internships


Public Relations

Prehistoric Inc. is currently looking to add a member to the team who is skilled in public relations, social media, and customer service.

This team member must be able to articulately share their interest and passion for reptile education through blogging and daily posts across influential social media outlets. When a mastery of these skills is proven there are several opportunities for increased public relations responsibilities within the company.

While on-site, this position will also involve face to face customer interaction at the hands-on booth inside The Reptile Zoo. Here your responsibly will be providing the utmost customer service and encouraging guests to enjoy all aspects The Reptile Zoo has to offer. As part of the unique hands-on interaction Prehistoric Inc. offers its customers reptiles, amphibians, and bugs are handled on a regular basis. All staff must have (or acquire) a basic knowledge of these animals and be able to maintain their composure while handling.

Additionally this position has the opportunity for growth representing Prehistoric Inc. and its subsidiaries at various special events across Southern California. This position requires individuals with reliable transport carrying a valid CA driver’s license and a great driving record. Because of the nature of special events, availability on Saturday and Sunday is a must.

Personality: Creative, Professional, Self Motivated, Outgoing

Technical Proficiency: Blogging, Facebook, Twitter & YouTube, Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook 2010, Adobe Photoshop CS4, Canon Digital SLR

Experience: Would prefer someone pursuing a degree in Public Relations or at least 1 year similar work experience. Open to exceptions based on ability.

Graphic Design

Prehistoric Inc. is currently looking to add a member to the team who is skilled in graphic design for print and web applications.

This team member will be given hands-on experience in assisting the brand manager from conception to execution across a variety of media.

Personality: Creative, Professional, Self Motivated

Technical Proficiency: Adobe Creative Suite CS4 (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge)

Experience: Would prefer someone pursuing a degree in Graphic Design or at least 1 year similar work experience. Open to exceptions based on ability.


Film/Video Editing

Prehistoric Inc. is currently looking to add a member to the team who is skilled in film and video editing.

This team member will be given hands-on experience in video prodcution specifically targeted for internet viewers from conception to execution.

Personality: Creative, Professional, Self Motivated

Technical Proficiency: Adobe Creative Suite CS4 (Premiere Pro)

Experience: Would prefer someone pursuing a degree in Film or at least 1 year similar work experience. Open to exceptions based on ability.


Volunteer Coordinator

In an effort to re-launch the volunteer program, The Reptile Zoo is looking to add a volunteer coordinator to help grow the team and create a rewarding experience for our many volunteer applicants.

This position will be a great fit for someone who not only loves animals, but working with others as well. Organization and a willingness to lead will be vital to the success of the program. This internship will meet 2-3 days per week and will include opportunities for hands-on interaction with several of our most popular species.
